Why I Created This File Transfer Platform

Why?

Seven years ago, while working at a university print shop, I witnessed daily struggles: students anxiously fiddling with their phones because WeChat couldn’t handle large PSD files; professors repeatedly verifying whether sensitive bid documents had been permanently deleted from computers; out-of-town customers forced to wait until dawn due to slow cloud storage speeds when urgently needing printed ID photos. These fragmented experiences made me acutely aware of the universal need for **instant, secure, and anonymous file transfers**.

As a "data relay station" in the print shop, I observed the flaws of traditional transfer methods: social media apps compress image quality, public email risks privacy leaks, and USB drives pose virus threats. One memory stands out: a designer customer spent three consecutive nights waiting at the shop because a client insisted on transferring 3GB of video素材 via QQ. At that moment, an idea struck me: **Could I build an online "counter" for file transfers as straightforward as a physical print shop?**

This concept lay dormant for two years until a conversation with an engineer friend introduced me to WebRTC technology. This peer-to-peer browser protocol perfectly aligned with my vision:

1. **Zero Data Retention**: Files transfer directly between devices, bypassing servers.

2. **Cross-Platform Freedom**: Works seamlessly across iOS, Windows, Android, and Mac browsers.

3. **Built-in Privacy**: Auto-encrypted channels ensure all data vanishes when rooms close.

What excited me most was WebRTC’s NAT traversal capability, which bypasses complex network restrictions. It reminded me of international students at the print shop who failed to connect to campus VPNs—how many urgent needs could be met if file transfers were as simple as handing someone a physical document?

After eight months of development, this idea born at a print shop counter came to life. The platform retains three core principles from my original concept:

- **No Accounts Needed**: Like walking into a print shop without showing ID, users leave no digital traces.

- **6-Digit Room Codes**: Mimicking real-world pickup codes for intuitive use, even for older adults.

- **Browser-Based Simplicity**: No plugins required, mirroring the lightweight experience of offline services.

When users describe it as a "24/7 virtual print shop," I’m transported back to those late nights listening to printer hums while waiting for files to transfer. Technology may evolve, but people’s fundamental right to privacy and their timeless pursuit of efficiency will always deserve thoughtful solutions.
